What is better than you got the opportunity and nailed it with your performance? The founder, chairman, and CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, takes this very seriously and always amazed people with his surprise.
This time, he launched a text-based (Twitter-like) app named “Threads,” which is an open challenge for Twitter’s owner Elon Musk. On day 1, after launching, Threads got thirty Million Signs up and became one of the top free apps on the App Store and the top trending topic on the Twitter App.
Earlier in October, when Elon Musk took over the Twitter app, they put on various restrictions and regulations for Twitter users. People showed dissatisfaction and disappointment over unnecessary directives. Moreover, the other Twitter rivals, who are still not getting enough popularity, such as Bluesky, Mastodon, Discord, etc., Threads created a buzz and became Crowd Puller on their first day, and we are sure enough there is more in this way. On the other hand, people are comparing this app with Twitter, claiming that Threads App is a rival of Twitter and describing Threads as a Twitter-Killer app.
A few days back, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, limited the number of tweets users may view on their feeds each day, citing severe “data scraping.” From the day Elon Musk announced the ownership of Twitter, a lot of changes have been made that make people unhappy and jump on other sites. And here come Threads – an ultimate replacement!
What Makes Threads App Like Twitter?
We want to share a quick overview of the app that can explain why people got crazy over Threads launch and what’s going on between Elon and Mark’s territories.
- Threads is a text-based social media platform where users can publicly share and discuss their thoughts.
- Users can create posts up to 500 characters, whereas Twitter allows only 280 characters to write a post.
- Users can control the privacy of post views and comment sections, such as anyone, profiles you follow, or only profiles you mention.
- On Threads App, users are allowed to share links, images, and videos of 5 minutes in length.
- The Tread account is associated with an Instagram account, and users may use the same user name or change their name.
- Users can deactivate their Thread account. Surprisingly, the Threads policy also informed users that their Instagram account was ultimately deleted if they deleted their Threads account.
- Threads officially launched in the UK, USA, and Canada and are available on both platforms, i.e., Android and iOS.
- Users can manually and automatically follow all the same user accounts that they follow on Instagram.
What are the Missing Features In Threads?
Users claimed that Threads is the alternative to Twitter, but many things are missing and not similar to Twitter so far. It is hoped that Threads owner Mark has more than Twitter-like features and will release another updated version in the coming days.
However, there are a few features you will not see in Threads:
- Threads do not contain and support GIFs.
- Hashtags are the major identity for finding trends that are not available in Threads.
- Users can not send messages through different messaging windows instead, let people send threads to other apps.
- Users can not edit posts.
- Users do not have any history of their own liked posts.
- There is no inline translation of posts.
- Threads do not have a desktop version. Users can only use Threads by installing via iOS or Android.
- Although many brands instantly join Threads, the app still does not introduce paid ads.
- Threads do not share posts in chronological order.
There are more dissimilarities or missing features to make this platform a Twitter. Certainly, Mark would have another plan that could be effective in the future.
